Argyll Engineers, the Takeuchi dealer based in Oban have recently supplied four new Takeuchi machines to long-standing customer TSL Contractors Ltd.
Argyll’s Owner, Cameron MacFarlane said: “Four machines at once may not be a big deal for other companies in other areas but for us it’s very significant. This will be our single biggest order ever as far as Takeuchi’s go”.
The major investment includes a Takeuchi a variety of weight class; 1.6 and 4-tonne mini diggers alongside powerful 6 and 9-tonne excavators with specific modifications to suit TSL specifications.
Operations Manager, Mr Robert Forbes of TSL said Argyll had been ‘fantastic’ and the new range would complement its large fleet which includes large excavators.
Mr Forbes said:
‘The new Takeuchis will join our large fleet of modern plant and will further add to our flexibility and builds reassurance and confidence to ensure reliability across the wide range of operations that we undertake.’
TSL are keen to get started with the new machines, three of the diggers will go to TSL, which employs around 160 people and specialises in construction, haulage and civil engineering. The fourth will go to a company it owns, TLC, The Landscaping Centre, also based in Oban.
Argyll has been the local dealer for Takeuchi for 10 years has establish the Takeuchi excavator brand across the Western Isles of Scotland. Formed in 1989, Argyll Engineers Limited employs six people, including Cameron senior’s wife Sine, providing diesel equipment from tractors to diggers.
